Sketchy.
Back with another layout :)
I'm participating in the contest going on over at My Creative Sketches right now. This is my October "catch up" page based on the first sketch.
I followed the sketch pretty closely in my opinion. Just on a smaller scale.
1. That flowery paper from Crate's Random Collection. Love.
2. If you look closely, you can see 3 little stars underneath my journaling strip. Sketch tribute.
3. The key hidden behind the paper strips is actually a vintage rub on.
Thanks for looking :)

Sometimes.
Sometimes I blog...and I wish I did it more often.
Sometimes I make things that make me happy. :) This is one of those things!
TFL! And follow me on Pinterest. Link on the sidebar!

The Sketch from My Creative Sketches:
My take on it:
A page that I made about my bf and I. It follows the sketch over at My Creative Sketches. |
1. The little heart in the bottom left-hand corner was cut out of an old German B&W storybook. My bf is German so I thought that was a cute little addition :)
2. I have a small BIG obsession with wooden buttons lately. (There's one on the right side of the page.)
3.I layered kraft wrapping paper, fabric, multiple patterned papers, hymnal paper, lace and a vintage doily. Who doesn't love vintage doilies? I mean, really.
I found a paper feather tutorial on PINTEREST, which I love! I always look on there for "Pinspiration". The feather was so simple to make and such a lovely embellishment. |

Weave it to me.
Used a technique that I have never used before...paper weaving!
I trimmed a pile of assorted scraps down to various lengths and the same width and pieced them together. It ended up like this...
A great way to use up scraps!!
While weaving like this, I found it easier to lay one horizontal piece then one vertical piece and alternate.
Sidenote, Only 5 more days until voting for the "Creating Keepsakes Teen Talent Search" opens!!

Layers
Hey :)
Lately in my scrapbooking I've noticed that I am using a lot of layering. I just love how layering can add so much depth to a project and gives it that shabby look.
I made this card last week..
Do you like using layering on YOUR pages? What is your favourite way to use it?

I never thought I'd say this...
but... I really dislike Europe right now. Yes, the land that gave us spaghetti and the best chocolate. And of course I'm only saying this because Europe is stealing my best friend for 3 weeks and I am majorly jealous lol.
I recently made a page about my bestie, Alexandra.
Here it iiiiiiis....
A bit of a different style for me..and I just LOVE the look of misting on layouts!
TFL everyone :)
p.s. Love you Lady!

The title has quite a story behind it so I figured that I wouldn't use journaling. |

A couple of weeks ago, my sister moved away for college. 9 hours away. She is my only sibling and I miss her like crazy!
I hope that this is something she can keep forever :)
Love you Shmooleigh!
TFL
My parents and I went with her to help move and everything so I left a going away "sister" album in her room for her to find after I had left.
Album seen here:
Scrabble letters. :) |
The album is grid patterned, designed by Scenic Route. |
each envelope in the book contains old handwritten letters that my sister and I had written to each other when we were little girls. |
I wrote letters to my sister throughout the book as journaling. |
the glassine bag contains a small note from my sister, and a card with the definition of friendship on it which I wrote a note on the back of. |
Old and new pictures throughout the album. |
I love these black Heidi Swapp cardstock stickers! Perfect for this album. |
Love you Shmooleigh!

Summer fun
Happy Sunday!!
Just sharing a project I did a couple of weeks ago. :)
I made this for my boyfriends' little brother, Jamez. It's summer and he's not in school, so he's bored. I decided to make him a "Summer Fun Jar".
Seen here:
I decorated the paintcan, and filled it with chocolate bars that I wrapped in PP. On each little chocolate bar, I attached a printout that had an activity that the 3 of us could do together. He loves it!!
So now I have a month of ice cream, minigolfing and swimming ahead of me! :)

Busy busy busyyyyy
It's been a crazy week and I have a pileup of little projects to blog :)
First is the card I made for my boyfriend's graduation.
I have a really hard time making masculine scrapbook pages or cards...mainly because my go-to embellishment is flowers! But for this card I wanted a school, boyish theme....uhoh. I tried to use layering, calm patterns and stars to alter my usual girly style.
Next up is the CD I made for my boyfriend for his birthday. (His grad and birthday were within a week of each other.)
I made up a CD of 18 songs (he turned 18) and printed a disk label with every name and artist on it.
To make the Kraft CD sleeve, I followed THIS TUTORIAL over at the Splitcoast site.
I have a new craft desk so I'm hoping to get my scrap on a bit today!
Happy creating :)

I used an actual strip of cork that was leftover from my bulletin board! I love it :) And the little bitty posty note with the date of his graduation on it!! |
